Our Southern-based adviser, Greg Columbus, recently assisted a valued North Otago client with the purchase of an Australian-based helicopter.

The transaction began with arranging trade finance to support the offshore purchase, ensuring the asset could be secured and shipped from Victoria to Port Chalmers without placing pressure on the client’s cashflow.

As the helicopter was in transit, traditional asset lending wasn’t yet available, so we bridged that gap and positioned the deal for a seamless transition into long-term funding once the aircraft was operational.

From there, the aircraft arrived in New Zealand, underwent MPI inspection, and was unpacked at the client’s hangar onsite.

Once the aircraft had been reassembled, registered with a ZK registration and issued with airworthiness certification, we transitioned the facility into a structured onshore asset finance term loan aligned to the client’s ongoing operations.
