Shane McDermott

Shane has enjoyed over 27 years’ experience in the financial services industry. His previous experience includes roles as a senior management accountant, an international trade finance specialist and a corporate banking partner. This experience, coupled with a chartered accountancy qualification since 2003, ensures Shane’s clients receive a high level of professional guidance and advice.

Since joining the Finance New Zealand team in 2016, Shane has helped a wide range of businesses with finance solutions to meet their business goals and provided expertise across a number of industries ranging from primary industry, development funding, equipment finance through to corporate, commercial and business banking. In other words, Shane can deliver efficiently tailored finance solutions to meet your business’s direct needs and future goals.

Shane’s extensive experience and drive ensure that customer needs are placed at the forefront of his activities. Bringing an old-fashioned service model to customers has seen Shane achieve considerable portfolio growth while developing a strong professional and client network spanning the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Poverty Bay.

Outside of work, Shane is heavily involved in rugby, having played at first-class level for both Southland and North Otago. He has refereed 84 and TMO’ed over 100 first-class games. He is also the president of Tauranga Sports Junior Rugby and a BOT member at his children’s school as well as a coach for several junior sports teams.
